this business school genuinely thrives
on bringing different people's views
together whether it's from latin america
india africa the whole of southeast asia
i'm blown away by the internationality
of the school i wanted to be in a global
environment and lbs was the only school
that would put me in a class with
literally students from all over the
world choosing a toy mba program was
very important for me because i felt it
gave me the right amount of time to be
transformed as a leader london gives you
that access to the city and access to so
many top employers that come to lbs and
so for me was a no-brainer for me
a lot of it was about being able to
explore what life would be like to work
in europe to live in europe when you
started lbs you get assigned to a study
group of about six people and it's great
because it's a group of people who you
have
a bunch of differences with different
cultures different work experience
different specialties in your first term
what you can expect the school will be
helping you build your fundamentals to
be a business leader so courses such as
strategy operations management economics
marketing these are some of the courses
that you'll be taking to build your
foundation term t you get to choose your
concentration essentially which is what
kind of courses do you want to double
down on you can really blend it so you
can choose to be a bit of strategy and
lots of finance or a bit of accounting
and lots of operations definitely the
biggest highlights for me my first year
was the london cap program
and the idea being that over a 10-week
period it gives lbs students the
opportunity to work with the client
across different sectors i specifically
chose a non-profit client that's based
in new york and the idea was that we
would help them look at their
organizational structure and how they
could optimize the work that they did
you will also work really closely with
the career center we have industry
experts we have career coaches anything
that you need will respect your career
they will be there for you there's also
so much that's happening outside of the
traditional elements of the mba program
so starting with the the clubs there are
100 work clubs that you can join in
either from a very strategic career
standpoint such as tech and media club
pe the things that are a little bit more
social like uh wine and spirits club the
rugby club has gone on you know a tour
to barcelona where 60 of us went there
and played against the local club or the
expedition club has done the three peaks
challenge throughout the united kingdom
where you climb the three highest peaks
in scotland england and wales in 24
hours and it's just
you know taking 80 of your closest
friends from lbs and just spending all
that time together is a really great way
to get to know i just wanted to meet
meet to meet and student clubs and
tracks are so important to that the
summer internship is a real key
component of a two-year program so for
me my summer worked out really well i
was supported by career center to secure
an internship in mckinsey london and it
was phenomenal it was exactly what i
wanted to do in terms of skill set
development well i have a lot of friends
who use their summer doing something
that really went out of the box for them
and now they're using their second year
to really define what's the next step
for them or find a position in the
sector that they decided was really good
for them you can also take part in
entrepreneurship summer school it's a
place where you spend summer actively
testing your idea you test the
feasibility of your idea you do market
research and all this under the
mentorship of industry experts and
professors year two is all about
customization in that you pick every
course on your schedule how many classes
you want to take when you want to take
them what you want to take and it's
great because we're each getting exactly
what we need out of the second year a
really exciting part of your second year
are both the global experience and
international exchange opportunities
with the global experience it gives you
the opportunity to travel out to various
countries and you have the opportunity
to work on specific sectors over the
week as well as real life products with
clients that are based in those regions
for me personally i'll be going to miami
in the summer which i'm pretty excited
about along with a cohort of about 60 70
um students on the international
exchange side there's a massive range of
partner schools all over the world
depending on kind of what interests you
or what sectors you're interested in you
can choose to exit between 15 18 or 21
months i personally decided to go for
the 18th month exit point so i can
really start earning again and start
climbing up that career ladder but i
think it's really important to know
you're taking lifelong friendships and
networks with you wherever you go

being back here today is
really really special we didn't know the
pandemic was coming and then i had to go
home so i never got to say goodbye to
any of my peers so seeing everybody
again has been
really amazing and emotional graduating
in 2020 meant that you had to reimagine
a lot of your plans for yourself so i
had a major pivot in 2020 after i
graduated and decided to move over into
brand management i didn't even know it
was an option before the mba and it's
the type of role that really wants mbas
especially in the us i'm now with mattel
brand management on monster high and
polly pocket i am working with like a
global team and communicating with teams
all around the world the experience i
had here with understanding other
cultures and
getting to know people from all over the
world had set me up for success in
speaking with everyone else globally on
my team i look back on so
much very fondly so my favorite classes
came at the end of second year and
actually they were fully remote but
professors did amazing i loved the sport
and entertainment class and then i also
loved my advanced marketing strategy
class those were my two favorites by the
end and then it was so special that in
2020 i spent the first two weeks at
melbourne business school and then went
to new zealand and traveled with friends
from lbs and then went over to myanmar
for my global business experience i just
think i probably had one of the best
2020s of anyone it was really amazing
and it carried me through
i have missed london as much as i've
missed any person
i've missed this campus it's been so
emotional to be here and to finally get
a celebrate and have an ending to the
mba

my time at the sloan program has given
me the tools i need to be an effective
leader in different contexts and in
different situations but also to embrace
my uniqueness and to
cherish the things that are different
about me because that sets me apart from
other leaders
we become better leaders when we leave
the sloan program because of the amazing
academic content
lots of reflections about life and
career and also the networking when we
have all these three
we are well prepared to face any problem
in the corporate world for me i think it
was the roundedness so that i have now
the tools and the mindsets and the
framework the theory but as well the
experience actually from my cohort to go
out there and be the leader i've always
wanted to be but somehow never really
had the tools to do it through the
throne program i transformed myself from
a domestic reader to a global leader our
strong professors taught us not about
how to do it what to do but why we do it
i became a reader
who can make a difference in a diverse
environment this year has been a pivotal
moment in my career journey it allowed
me the time to reflect
on myself raise self-awareness
become more confident
in the impact and influence that i want
to make in the world and in the business
world going forward not only in the
community i operate but also globally
i've gone through this journey with a
fantastic group of peers and i count on
them
as a cohort to make this impact even
greater in the years to come

we look for a number of things when
assessing candidates Olinda Business
School and it's important that we take a
very holistic view of a candidate
looking at factors ranging from academic
experience your professional life so
then we'll start to look at what kind of
person are they what are their ambitions
do they have a global outlook that they
have international experience or are
they looking to to build an
international presence we look for
evidence of a collaborative attitude as
well it's really important that you want
to learn from others and with others and
make the most of the fact that people
are from all over the world bringing
very different perspectives so it's key
that you're the kind of individual that
is interested in other people
self-awareness is important do you know
your strengths your weaknesses and the
gaps you have coming into the program so
that you know what you can focus on
during your time here researching the
school and programs is absolutely key
it's vital for us that we see that
you've put that time into research what
makes us unique and what's different
you have your own aspirations and where
you're hoping to achieve from a program
you have to see whether the two fit one
misconception that people sometimes have
when they're applying mister you have to
be quirky or different or unique and the
fact is that we're crafting a class and
putting it together students from all
sorts of different backgrounds
professional backgrounds different
nationalities so we're creating that
diversity and so you as an individual
just need to bring you
you

we look for a number of things when
assessing candidates at London Business
School and it's important that we take a
very holistic view of a candidate
looking at factors ranging from academic
experience your professional life and
then you as a person but what we really
want to see on the masters in finance
program is a passion for finance we want
to see what makes you tick what you're
hoping to get out of the program and
experiences what you aspire to what you
see yourself doing in a few years time
the impact you hope to have on the world
there's huge diversity in the masters in
finance class so we have people have
worked in a finance sector and others in
corporate finance functions across
different industries learning business
call is all about people it's about
learning from each other from each
other's experiences and also the
aspirations people are driving towards
as well so it's really important that
you come in and it's self-aware and
reflective but you're the kind of person
that knows you'll gain a lot from
working with others researching your
school and programs is absolutely key
it's vital for us that we see that
you've put that time into research what
makes us unique and what's different one
piece of advice I'd give is to not
overanalyze what you think we're looking
for you just need to focus on what you
believe you bring to the application
poll and potentially to the class all
you can do is be the best version of you
that's possible

### Early Career Admissions Advice | London Business School

during the admissions process we take a
very holistic approach to our
applications so it's not just about
getting a high GMAT or GRE score it's
about all the components in the
application that can make a candidate
stand out a piece of advice I would give
to candidates applying would be not just
to focus on your professional
achievements really highlight how you
plan to contribute to the London
Business School community not everyone
will have had global exposure yet but to
us it's very important that a candidate
has a global mindset and is curious
about other perspectives and other
cultures from their peer group going to
business school should not just be for
the short-term gain of getting your
dream job after you graduate you should
really be looking at it as a lifelong
investment the network that you get will
last you for the rest of your life you
should always ask yourself is this the
community that I want to be part of so
one of the ways that you can do that is
to go and experience it yourself go and
attend a class come to an event where we
have alumni discussions really see the
type of people who are part of the
London Business School community and
whether you want to be part of that as
well I think most people have an
expectation that their London Business
School journey is going to be great but
when they get to see alumni hear their
stories talk to current students you can
just tell the buzz in the room and
people are so excited about the journey
that's about to start for them
