### How to Apply for Tier 4 Visa and Student Visa | London Business School
URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgfozTxtBPw

Idioma: en

good afternoon everyone and Welcome to
our online session today discussing all
things Visa related my name is Helen
Foley and I'm the senior manager for
Visa compliance here at London Business
School I understand we have a range of
different people registered today those
of you who are possibly only just
considering applying to London Business
School some who have may have already
done so so I'm going to cover a range of
Visa related topics to probably address
a wide range of of different questions
with a lot of midia attention in the UK
on visas and immigration lately we're
very conscious that there are lots of
questions and probably concerns about
obtaining a visa to study at
lbs um so hopefully today's session
we'll talk through the key facts that
you need to know and by doing so I'm
sure this will help put your minds at
rest about this one aspect of coming to
the UK applying for a student visa in
the UK need not be difficult it is as
you'll see bureaucratic with various
steps along the way as you would expect
from any government organization but it
is simply a process and it should not
deter anyone from applying to London
Business School if you are the right
student for lbs then we and the UK will
welcome you with open
arms so here are the key areas that I'm
going to cover today I'm happy to answer
any questions that you may have but if
you leave these until the end of the
session and that would be best as
chances are and may well cover most of
the questions in today's
session so we'll kick off by looking at
who needs a visa to study at
lbs to study fulltime at lbs any student
from outside the EA or Switzerland must
apply for a specific student visa you
cannot study on our full-time courses on
a tourist or a business Visa so this is
for the MBA the MU full time the Masters
in management this Sloan program as well
as our new MFA will all require a tier
four General visa for
studying for any students interested in
our part-time program so that's the
Executive MBA the myth weekend program
or our mber Global program in most cases
you will require a student visitor Visa
although in some cases it is possible to
study on a general visitor visa and I'll
go into that in a bit more detail later
on uh the bulk of today's session is
disc discussing tier four visas as this
is uh the most complicated Visa process
um so that's what the majority of the
time will be spent on today but I will
touch on student visitor visas towards
the
end so looking first at obtaining a tier
four Visa um tier four visas are
sponsored uh by the institution where
you'll be studying it's for students who
have confirmed places on full-time
degrees in the UK lbs sponsors around
550 15 students on tier 4 visas each
Academic Year to ensure that we have the
brightest and the best students uh
studying
here only apply for your visa after
you've accepted your program offer and
paid your reservation fee now this may
be £5,000 it varies per program for the
SLO program it's £5,000 for the MBA and
other programs it is slightly more and
you can only apply for your tier for
visa after you have paid this required
reservation fee after this time we do
provide full guidance on the next steps
of your visa application so don't think
you're on your own uh we can help you
through
it there are three key elements required
in order to apply for your t for visa
and these are listed on the slide here
the first you may already have heard of
the confirmation of acceptance for
studies also known as the Cass the
second is what ukvi referred to as the
maintenance requirement which is
essentially ensuring you have enough
money to pay for your course and support
yourself while you're in the UK the
third is a relatively new part of
applying for a UK visa and it's the
requirement to pay an immigration
healthare sirar charge also known as an
IHS as part of completing your visa
application
so we'll start by looking at the Cass
any student wishing to study fulltime in
the UK needs to have a Cass this is in
issued by the institution where you will
be studying so lbs will issue this to
you in doing so we are confirming that
you are a legitimate student who has
gone through our rigorous application
process that you have the correct
qualifications knowledge and language
skills and that you have committed to
attending lb
yes the cast itself is actually a unique
reference number that we issue to you
after you've paid your reservation fee
and in formal uh confirmation of your
previous education
qualifications you then use this number
on your visa application form to prove
that you have a legitimate place at
lbs the cast is valid for 6 months after
issue and it does become invalid after
it's been
used uh looking now at the requirement
for money ukv sets strict Financial
criteria that you must adhere to as part
of your visa application when you submit
your visa application you must prove
that you have enough money to cover the
first year uh of your tuition fees or
your full fees if it's just a one-year
program and an amount of living expenses
this is being increased shortly to
11,385 to show in addition to your first
year uh tuition fees uh listed on the
slide here I have the tuition fees for
the
20156 academic years these are subject
to a slight increase for 201617 but this
should give you a good indication of the
amount of money that you have to be able
to demonstrate as part of your visa
application uh there are a variety of
different ways in which you can show
evidence of this money and I'm going to
go into this in quite a lot of detail on
the next slide any money that you've
already paid to LBS so your reservation
or commitment fee or any other tuition
fees you've already paid is deducted
from the total amount you do need to
show the maintenance requirement can
seem quite daunting and there is no
flexibility given on the amount of money
you have to show or the length of time
you have to have held that money for or
the documentation that must be provided
but it is simply being able to prove
that you have the money that you would
need to have access to
anyway this slide is very heavy in
detail and this is intentional as this
is the area proving your Financial
requirements where most where most
mistakes are made with Visa
applications the documentation accepted
to prove this are very specific and
there is no flexibility with what will
be accept accepted we regrettably do
have a small number of visas refused
each year for students who do not follow
the strict guidance this can be easily
avoided if you ensure to take the time
to understand what will and what won't
be accepted as
evidence firstly you can use funds that
you have available in a bank account but
it is imperative that this money is
available as immediate cash funds it
cannot be in any savings account that
could be seen as an investment account
or an account where funds are not
immediately
available to prove the money in a bank
account there are two different ways you
can do this you can use your bank
statements these must show that the
funds have been available over a
consecutive 28-day period ending no more
than a month before the date of your
application the date of your application
is the date you submit your online visa
application so the funds have to have
been available available for 28 days
before the date you submit your online
visa
application the bank statement must be
an original bank statement showing all
of the required Account Details your
name the account number the bank's name
logo and so on you should use original
statements wherever possible if you do
wish to use e statements then these can
be accepted as long as they are
accompanied by um either the bank's
official stamp on every page or a letter
from the bank confirming the
authenticity of the E
statements if you don't want to use bank
statements you can just use a letter
from your bank or financial institution
confirming that the funds are
available consecutive 28 day
period if you're in the position of
being a sponsored to study lbs then you
can use any money from an official
Financial sponsor in order to show that
you have the funds available an official
Financial sponsor as defined by ukv is a
university or government organization or
an international company who is
providing you with financial assistance
to support you on your studies this can
either be just towards tuition fees or
it can also cover uh the living expenses
required as well to proove this you will
have to show an official letter from the
organization or the government
University showing your name the details
of the sponsorship
the from the financial institution
confirming your loan to prove that you
have the funds available it is very
important to note that the that the loan
must be explicitly for the provision of
a student or academic loan you cannot
simply use a general Loan in order to
prove uh the the financial requirements
for your Visa the loan company must be
regulated by the FCA or the overseas
equivalent and you must be able to
provide an official letter from the loan
company showing your name the financial
institution's name and logo and
confirming the amount of money that will
be made available to you any students
who are considering taking out a prodigy
loan a future finance loan or possibly a
loan through the US federal government
these are all accepted as loans uh for
the purposes of uh visa application
if you in the fortunate position that
your parents or legal Guardians uh wish
to provide financial support for you
then they are able to do so you have to
provide proof of your relationship to
your parents so this will normally be um
a birth certificate or if you don't have
that available then another um
government or court document that
confirms your relationship to your
parents in addition to this you also
require a letter of permission from your
parents where they give their clear
consent for their money to be used used
to help fund
your there are a couple of situations in
which you don't need to demonstrate that
you have the money
available as I said earlier any money
that's already been paid to LBS for
tuition fees will be included when we
issue your cast number to you uh and we
confirm this to the home office so that
you don't have to approve the funds
independently uh quite simply the more
money you pay towards your fees UPF
front the less you need to demonstrate
elsewhere so it can be very beneficial
to
do for the money to be held on a bank
account if you do pay more money onto
your fees after you've had your cash
issued to you then this is also possible
but we do need to make a manual update
of this and we'll give much more
information about this uh when it comes
to your visa
application if you're in receipt of an
lbs scholarship
um and that this These funds will count
towards U meeting the tuition fee
requirement uh it's important at this
stage to note that any documents that
you submit including all of these
financial documents must be translated
into English if English is not the
language that they originally in this is
uh true for any letters as well as any
bank statements that you
have I put a few notes on this slide
here to indicate what money is not
accepted as evidence um any property or
shares bonds Pension funds or other
similar savings accounts are not
accepted by ukvi as evidence of of the
funds available so you cannot use these
bank accounts of siblings and partners
are also not permitted to be used unless
you are named on the bank account as a
joint account holder so although you can
use your parents uh account um you can't
currently use siblings or or husband or
wife or
partner you cannot use a loan that is in
someone else's name or a loan that has
any conditions attached so your parents
for example cannot take out a loan in
their name in order to to prove that you
meet the
requirements and there's also a list of
Institutions or financial institutions
that are not recognized by
ukvi uh we can give more information on
this um if you want to double check that
your institution uh is
acceptable so the next area of
preparation for you is to ensure that
you have all of the supporting
documentation that you need for all
applicants you will need to physically
submit your passport any previous
passports you have if you have them
available
and and two passport sized
photographs you therefore need to be
aware that you'll be unable to leave the
country while your application is being
processed because ukv will H hold on to
your passport for the period of
application most applicants are also
required to submit a number of
additional documents in support of their
application firstly whatever document
that your cast was based on must be
submitted this will be your highest
education qualification as listed on
your cast statement you must either at
the original degree certificate or an
original official transcript photocopies
will not be
accepted you're also required as I've
already gone into detail on to submit
documentary evidence of your ability to
meet the financial requirements now we
do have an lbs checklist for each of the
possible financial documents uh which
will make available to you at the time
of application the documents that you
provide must match this
directly in some better news ukvi has
made a concession for some applicants
with regards to further
documentation if you are if you're a
national of one of the countries listed
in the blue box on this slide and you're
applying from within that country then
you're considered low risk and are not
required to submit any further
documentation it's important to note
that you must still have them but you
don't need to submit them as part of
your visa application this only applies
if you're one of the nationalities
listed on this slide and you're applying
from within that country or from within
the UK itself
as I mentioned earlier the immigration
healthare search charge IHS has recently
been introduced as a mandatory payment
as part of the visa
application anyone with a couple of
small exceptions applying to come to the
UK for longer than 6 months must pay
this charge as part of the visa
application it covers the period of time
of your entire Visa not just the period
of your studies so there'll be a per
period of time before and after your
studies that it covers as well and it's
payable at £150 per year uh for each
student any dependence you're bringing
with you must also pay the an additional
sum of £150 per year per person for the
duration of your time in the
UK the period starts as I said from the
Visa valid from date which is normally 1
month before the program start date and
it ends at your Visa expiry date which
is normally four months after the
program end date
um there are a couple of exemptions
Nationals of Australia and New Zealand
uh as well as British overseas territory
citizens resident in the forland islands
are currently exempt from paying uh the
fee you still need to complete the
application process but there will be no
fee required uh for
payment so once you have your cast and
you confident that your funds are in
place uh you can actually apply I'm
going to talk first about applying from
outs IDE the UK as this is where most of
you will apply from you should in most
cases apply from your country of
residence you can apply for your Visa 3
months before the registration for your
program starts which is normally about 2
weeks before the program I've put a
timeline here uh for MBA 2018 but this
is still to be confirmed but it's just
to give you an idea of when the the
process can start from you we normally
make Cass available from around May the
1st each year uh and based on the start
dates MBA 2017 uh you will be able to
apply from May 3rd which would be 3
months before the program start date if
you're applying for the MBA program the
registration period for the MBA program
starts on the 3rd of August and the
program start date was around the 17th
of
August uh the timelines for all of the
programs will be similar to this in that
you'll be able to get your cast and
apply for your Visa around 3 months
before the registration period for your
program
starts something we get asked a lot is
how long will it take to get my Visa I'm
afraid this isn't a question with a
definite answer in most cases the
process should be completed within 15
working days and this is met in the vast
majority of cases however some will take
longer and a very few will take
considerably longer because of the
uncertainty we very very strongly advise
you to apply as soon as possible after
the three-month date has
passed when you get to that stage we
provide detailed guidance notes on
completing your online application
these will be available to you when you
accept your place on the
program in addition to the application
form you must send the supporting
documentation which I've talked about
already following the submission of your
online application you'll need to attend
a visa application center to submit your
biometric information and attend a short
interview before you complete uh your
application by submitting all of your
documents to
ukv in some cases you may be contacted
before this appointment to be to uh to
be advised that you will have uh a more
full interview as part of your process
this is known as a credibility
interviewing uh process this is
mandatory in a number of countries
around the world now and it's actually
carried out by video conference to a
home office location in the UK the
interview will be very straightforward
it will ask about your plans uh about
why you picked lbs to study at what you
know about the course and possibly about
what your plans are after the program as
long as you answer honestly uh there's
nothing to be concerned about for the
interview when your Visa is approved
when you apply from outside the UK
you'll actually only receive an entry
visa for the UK this is valid for 30
days in order to allow you entry to the
UK your full Visa will actually be
available for you to collect on arrival
in the
UK the entry Visa valid for 30 days is
based on your course start date and the
date of intended travel that you give on
your online application form it's very
important to be as accurate as possible
with this uh as getting a replacement
entry uh Visa is an expense and a hassle
that I I can say from experience is
something that you want to avoid when
you've received your entry Visa you'll
also receive a letter telling you when
and where to collect your full visa from
within the UK and this is determined by
the post code that you give on your visa
application looking now at applications
from inside the UK there are limited
number of situations in which you can
apply from within the UK it's dependent
on your current immigration status if
you're in the UK as a visitor or on a
temporary basis you will not be able to
apply from here you'll need to return to
your home
country if you're here under tier one or
tier 2 or already studying under tier 4
at a different institution you should be
able to apply from the UK we will give
more information on this after your
offer has been made at
lbs similar to applying outside the UK
you can apply up to 3 months before the
program start date and you must apply
before your current UK immigration
permission ends if there's a gap of more
than three months between one ending and
the next one beginning then you will
need to reply to your home you will need
to return to your home country to
apply uh Visa processing times in the U
UK can vary quite a lot and are
ironically quite a lot longer than if
you apply outside the UK in many
instances it can take up to 8 weeks uh
to apply for your
Visa um however on the plus side you can
start studying at lbs uh as long as we
have proof that you have already applied
for your tier 4 Visa in the UK we don't
actually have to see a receipt of your
tier 4 Visa we just need to know that
you have applied for
it as in all cases we advise that you
apply as soon as possible H for your
Visa in order to avoid any unnecessary
delays so that's all of the hard-hitting
legal and financial bits um put a few of
the most frequently asked questions
about tier four on this slide um you can
bring your family with you when you're
on tier four this can be your husband
wife civil partner unmarried partner
samesex partner as well as any children
aged under 18 years old and they have
full working and studying rights in the
UK If you're not married to your partner
you will have to prove that you have
been in a relationship similar to
marriage for at least 2 years this is
normally evidenced by U mortgage
statements tenancies the agreements
utility bills basically anything that
shows that you have been living at the
same address uh for at least 2
years when applying there are additional
Financial requirements per dependent and
these uh go up to £
7,65 uh from November this year that's
per dependent coming with you to the UK
as well as the additional immigration
healthc care sear charge fee uh that I
mentioned earlier and as a final point
just to note you do have to prove that
you are related uh to your dependant so
in the case of marriage this will
normally be a marriage certificate for
children it will be their birth
certificate and as I mentioned for
unmarried Partners it will be evidence
that you are in a relationship similar
to
marriage in terms of working while
you're studying h under tier four you
can work 20 hours per week during term
time and full-time work during any
vacation or non-study periods at the
school your visas will be issued for the
length of your program plus an
additional four months at the end of the
program so you are permitted to stay in
the UK for 4 months after the end of
your program and in terms of working
after your studies um a large number of
our students do this every year and
there are two main routes uh by which
you can do so and we do have a fantastic
career center who will support you every
step of the way with
this the first route is under tier two
under tier 2 sponsorship London business
school students can switch easily from
tier four to take up a permanent job in
the UK the employer must be a tier 2
sponsor and there are around 29,000 tier
2 sponsors currently so it's not a small
or select group at
all due to an exemption home office
policy fulltime students from the UK who
have a degree from the UK can switch to
a tier 4 Visa within four months of
graduating if their prospective employer
is a tier two sponsor and the job pays
more than a minimum of £21,500
there are no hiring caps no tests or
quotes is uh for lbs students graduating
and switching onto tier 2 you may have
heard mention of Resident labor market
tests or uh limited numbers of visas
available none of this applies to LBS
students switching uh from tier four and
wanting to stay in work in the UK under
tier 2 visas can currently be approved
for up to 5 years although this is at
the discretion of your
employer if you're more interested in
being self-employed the tier one
graduate entrepreneur Visa was
introduced just a few years ago for lbs
students with credible genuine business
ideas who wish to stay in the UK to work
on their own
businesses lbs is an endorsing
institution which essentially means we
continue to sponsor students uh under
the tier one graduate entrepreneur route
after they've completed their program we
have up to 40 visas to endorse each year
via a competitive application process
the Visa can be issued for an initial
period of 12 months and this can be
extended by a further 12 months uh if
things are going
well although the primary activity
during this time must be your business
idea you are also free to take on
additional or or supplementary
employment okay I'm just going to spend
just one minute now talking about visas
required for our part-time programs um
for part-time programs at lbs you're not
eligible for a tier four Visa which in
most cases mean that you will need to
apply for a student visitor Visa
depending on your nationality you may
need to apply for this before you travel
to the UK uh if you're a Visa National
this is the case for you and there's a
list of the Visa of what constitutes a
Visa National available on the ukvi
website if this does apply to you you
will need to apply in advance providing
your passport your offer letter from lbs
and evidence that you can support
yourself financially for the duration of
your studies in the
UK If you're a non-va national so
somebody who doesn't need to apply in
advance you can simply come to the UK
with your passport your offer letter
from lbs and evidence that you can
support yourself financially for the
duration of your studies and you can
just arrive um in the UK at the border
and be permitted entry as a student
visitor in both these cases you will be
permitted entry for six months uh as a
student visitor as our part-time
programs last longer than 6 months it is
likely that you will have to apply for
more than one Visa uh during your time
on the program
it might be important to note that if
you're studying on a business or general
visitor Visa sorry if you're already on
a business or general visitor visa for
the UK then this permits study in the UK
for up to 30 days in any six-month
period without having to apply for an
additional student visitor Visa your
main reason for holding the Visa must
still be to visit the UK on business or
for a holiday or to see family but it
does also permit you to do up to 30-day
studies H which covers emba myth
parttime and the EMB glob
program if the purpose of your visits to
the UK does change to just being for
study then we do advise that you app you
apply for a specific student uh visitor
Visa I appreciate that this is quite a
lot of information to present you with
with a lot of detail involved
and we will support you in providing the
right guidance in completing your
application advice on timelines
documents and so on we have very very
few problems each year the process does
work we just need to follow uh the
correct rules in order to make sure
everything goes well I'm happy for you
to type through any questions that you
may have but I've also included a few
links on the slide here as to where you
can get support a later dat if you can't
think of what you want to ask now we
will be emailing through the slides and
a recording of today's present ation so
you should receive that within the next
couple of days please do type through
any questions that you have and I'll
answer them as soon as I can
I've had a question about um the
situation for someone who's a dual
National so if you have any type of EU
nationality at all for example if you're
Brazilian and also have Portuguese
nationality then you don't have to apply
for a Visa to study in the UK um having
EU nationality allows you full working
and studying rights in the UK and so
you're not required to get a Visa even
if this is your secondary or in some
cases third
nationality I've another question asking
about part-time students bringing family
to to the UK currently uh part-time
students who are coming to study on
visitor visas in the UK cannot bring
family with them if family wants to come
and join you in the UK for some of the
time they can do so but they would have
to apply for a visitor Visa in their own
right uh rather than coming as a
dependent as I talked about for tier 4
but another question about dependence uh
relating to tier four students um and
whether or not tier four dependents have
to apply at the same time as the tier
four applicant or that if they can apply
later and that's entirely up to you they
cannot apply before you apply as the
main tier four applicant but if they're
going to be coming at the same time as
you then they should apply at the same
time if they're going to be coming to
the UK until for example 3 or four
months later then they can and should
wait uh to apply closer to the time
they're coming to the
UK also worth noting on tier four
dependent that although you can bring
children with you um as a tier four
dependent in order to do so both the
child's parents must also be coming to
the UK so if you were just coming on
your own with your child to the UK your
child's Visa would not be uh would not
be approved both the mother and father
of the child have to be coming to the UK
in order for the child's visa to be
approved I had a question come through
about permanent residency of an EU
country and whether or not that still
requires a tier 4 Visa it currently does
still require a tier four Visa you can
only count actual EU citizenship or EU
nationality in order to not uh be
required to have a visa to come here if
it's just permanent residency that you
have then I'm afraid you do still need a
visa in order to study in the
UK e
right I don't think there's any more
questions coming through just now so
thank you very much for logging in today
um as I said the slides and the
recording of the presentation will be
shared with you uh by email within the
next couple of days so do keep an eye
out for that if you do have any
questions that come to you later then
please do um have a look at some of the
links on this

### Degree Programmes Online Information Session | London Business School
URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv4BQ8s7CGA

Idioma: en

good afternoon everyone and welcome to
this online information session for
London Business Schools degree programs
quick word of introduction my name is
Brett Hunter I'm the senior admissions
manager for the Executive MBA uh
although today obviously I'll be talking
about our full range of programs that we
offer here at London Business School so
to begin with just a run through of some
of those programs the one of the the
great things about London Business
School is that we have diversity not
just in terms of of nationality and and
industry and job function and I'll
certainly talk about those those shortly
but we also have diversity in our
classrooms in terms of career stage and
as you you see here on this uh this this
uh this sheet here we we have a a range
of different programs to cover the the
range from recent graduates which uh we
have in our massive massing management
Global massing Management and massing
financial analysis programs uh all the
way through to the the Sloan MSC in
leadership and strategy which is uh for
uh for senior managers with a roundabout
on average years of experience it goes
through uh the the other programs as
well the the forom MBA which has on
average around about six years of
experience in the the classroom uh
similarly with the the mass in finance
our only specialist program which again
has on average around about five or six
years of experience on the the full-time
version and uh used to a little bit
higher six to seven years of experience
on the part-time version uh the
Executive MBA portfolio which uh
generally sit around about 11 or 12
years of experience and then as I said
the the slow MSC which has around about
16 years on average in the classroom
it's important to to recognize that this
diversity is is not just on the campus
but it also is in the classroom as well
so when you get to the the elective
phase on programs you're learning in the
classroom with people from each of these
different
programs so just a little bit of
information about why people might
choose to do a uh a program at at London
Business School generally speaking we we
feel that uh that candidates will have
have one of three uh main objectives to
to why they they look to do a degree
program uh and they are broadly speaking
uh career switches um which is those who
are working in one particular industry
and they're looking to to shift to to a
different industry this is typically
those in the the early career and and
full-time programs uh this is because uh
with the full-time programs there's
there's a internship element that allows
people to do some some work in an
organization of their choice uh which
then gives them the opportunity to
switch into that that organization with
a full-time role after their program
ends there's also career accelerators
these are people who are looking to
advance their careers perhaps break
through a uh a glass ceiling that
they've they've reached and progress to
to levels that they might not think are
possible without one of our degree
programs uh accelerators feature on all
of our programs but typically our um
executive portfolio um has a lot of
accelerator those who are looking to to
move from maybe a A specialized
management role or a middle management
role into a a senior level or or seite
position and then there's the
entrepreneurs uh and entrepreneurs are
themselves broken into three categories
there's those who uh are already
entrepreneurs and they're looking to uh
to make sure that they they maximize
their their opportunities with their
startup there are those who are
currently working in the corporate world
and want to shift to being an
entrepreneur uh but there's also those
who don't realize they're entrepreneurs
yet they they might be looking to to
stay within the corporate sphere but uh
when doing one of our programs they
realize very quickly they have a pretty
good idea for a startup and then then
take that forward
afterwards so people choose London
Business School for a range of different
reasons and broadly speaking that can
come down to to reputation uh the
strength of our faculty uh the fact that
uh the people learn with an outstanding
peer group uh but also the fact that we
are based in London but also a global
establishment the in in terms of the
reputation as you can see from from here
students don't necessarily come from uh
just the UK obviously and certainly not
just just wider Europe U but all over
the world and and this is Testament to
the fact that uh London Business
school's brand is recognized around the
world and that means we were able to
attract top talent to our programs but
it also means that when people leave our
programs they're able to uh to offer a
brand on their CV that employers all
over the world recognize and this is
quite unusual for uh for schools in
general but certainly schools within
Europe London Business School really
does resonate around the world world and
as you can see it's a fairly even spread
uh with 17% of our students coming from
from North America uh 7% from Latin
America uh 11% from the UK which is
obviously quite a small number
considering the fact that we're based in
the UK um and uh 26% from from wider
Europe then 24% from from Asia as well
and really does give not just uh
diversity in terms of nationalities but
also the the experiences that people
bring into the
classroom people also choose to do one
of our programs based on our faculty as
well obviously a lot of what uh uh the
the benefits people get from from doing
our programs come down to the learnings
that you're uh you're able to uh to take
away from the program and that you're
able to to to apply either to your
current role or to your your career
going forward and the key thing to
remember about our uh faculty is that
they're not just researchers uh they
don't just sit in um their offices
churning out um Publications although
this is certainly a big part of of what
they do and uh the uh the Publications
and articles of our faculty don't just
feature on our reading list but also the
reading lists of other top institutions
all around the world but the key thing
to to to realize is that they're also
practitioners and London Business School
really does position itself very much as
a practitioner school so our faculty uh
also they're working in Industry they
are Consultants they're advising
governments and what they're doing is
they're bringing their what they they
learn themselves in their day-to-day
jobs to the classroom and then
delivering it back to the students and
then often bringing their experiences
with students and their research back to
their own roles so it's very much a
dynamic learning environment it's also
worth noting the the different way we uh
we we assess and uh and teach the
students and that's through uh different
learning methods so we obviously go
through the the uh the case study method
but also simulations uh and this really
gives the students much more of
practitioner focus on the program so
we're far less of theory based school
and much more about about practice the
way that students are assessed is is
generally through uh through assignments
and exams but there's also very much a
focus on class participation and that's
because we really do focus on the idea
of learning from each other as well as
just from The Faculty so the uh the
rating in terms of
how and also our faculty are well known
in their fields just the three examples
down the bottom there uh there's Linda
Graton who was the former Chief
psychologist for British Airways uh
she's been named in the top 40 thinkers
by the the financial times she's not the
only one of our faculty members listed
on that that list uh Alex edmans um in
this particular picture here was being
interviewed on CNN about the impact of
uh the scores and the results in the the
football World Cup last year and how
that affected the stock markets in uh uh
in the the countries that that were
involved and Andrew Scott who uh is our
former deputy Dean um who uh aside from
um uh being the former head of the
Financial Services Authority uh is also
the economic advisor to the prime
minister of Marisha so these are
individuals who are bringing different
perspectives to the classroom and
teaching the students
accordingly but then also it's about the
people that you learn with and I
mentioned just a second ago about how we
try to make sure that uh that people are
learning as much from each other as they
are from the faculty and that's very
much an important part of the uh the
program the way we we we put that
together together is is largely through
our our study groups and uh on all of
our programs we put together study
groups of five or six people and these
groups are as diverse as the class
themselves so it it means that you can
learn from from people from a range of
different backgrounds whether it be
nationality uh or or industry Focus or
or job role uh and it creates very much
a collaborative rather than a
competitive Spirit uh the fact that a
lot of the assignments are based on your
your work as a group really does mean
that you learn to collaborate and work
through as a team rather than taking
very much individualistic approach but
looking at some of the numbers there so
at any one time on campus there are
around about 2,000 students across all
of our degree programs uh they represent
130 nationalities or over 130
nationalities which as as you can
imagine is obviously makes for a very
diverse community and it very much
reflects London itself as a city uh the
uh the for MBA program has around about
37% female participation which uh which
is one of the uh the leading figures in
in the business education uh obviously
we're uh we're trying to push that a
little bit higher but but as the stands
we're we're one of the leaders in that
in that field and as I said the diverse
professional backgrounds also um bring
for for shared experiences as you go
through the the program as it says up
there there are over 70 electives to uh
to study and it's important to remember
as I said before that these electives
are shared with people from all over the
school community so if you are doing the
full-time MBA you won't just be studying
with full-time MBA students in the
electives but also executive mbas from
from London and Dubai Ember globals
slones M and finance students and so
on but of course one of the key reasons
that people would choose to uh to come
to London Business School is because
we're based in London uh and this might
be because the students uh the
perspective students are already based
in in London um London obviously being a
a world Industrial and Commercial
Capital but also because London attracts
top challenge London itself has uh I
think over 75% of uh the Fortune 500
companies have either a headquarters or
some presence in London uh and it's for
these reasons that we're able to offer a
dynamic learning experience for for
students on campus we're able to pull
together quite a lot of guest speakers
who come along and keep their
perspectives on on leadership and and
management uh from a range of of
different backgrounds whether it be uh
whether it be business or politics or
Sports and being based in London really
does maximize our opportunities to uh to
achieve this also for those who are
looking to to join the full-time
programs London offers a range of of
excellent opportunities for interships
and with the potential to be able to
stay on in London post uh post
postgraduate uh should you be given the
offer and should the the Visa enable you
to but we're certainly not just about
London we really do consider ourselves
to be a global business
school so obviously we have our two
campuses uh here in London but then also
we have the Dubai Center in Dubai the
Dubai Center is is the uh the center
where the Executive MBA Dubai class is
taught uh their core courses but it's
also where around seven or eight of our
electives are taught as well so there's
opportunities for people across our
degree programs to take the electives
out into du
buy we also have our partnership
institutions as well we partner with
Columbia business school to uh to to
deliver the Ember Global Americas and
Europe uh we also partner with Hong Kong
business school to deliver the uh the
Ember Global Asia then also recently
Fudan business school is our partner on
the Global marting Management
program then of course the alumni those
who've graduated from the program we
have now over 40,000 alumni based in 130
different countries and 87 alumni clubs
around the world we make sure that the
alumni stay very much focused on on
London Business School community and we
do this through a lot of our events and
I'll cover this uh shortly in a few
slides but one of the ways we do this is
through the worldwide alumni celebration
which is an opportunity for alumni based
all over the world to to
get opportunity to uh to to not just uh
to socialize but also obviously to
develop business opportunities and and
other chances for for recruitment later
on then in terms of our students and
faculty on campus at the moment we as
said there's the students from over 130
different countries uh but also 154
faculty from from 30 countries when
London Business School first started
back in 1964 around about 70% of the
faculty were British and 30%
International that figure is now roughly
reversed with over 70% of the faculty
coming from from overseas and again this
diversity brings a different perspective
in terms of the teaching and some of the
perspectives our faculty are a often in
the
classroom and life at London Business
School is not just
about the study in the classroom itself
and uh and the work that you do at home
we also make sure that we offer a
vibrant uh extracurricular uh
opportunity for uh for all those people
who are coming on to to to the campus
and also their Partners as well we do
this through uh clubs and societies and
obviously one of the the key parts of of
your learning on on campus is is that
element that's led by the students
itself the clubs and societies are
divided uh roughly into four different
categories is there are the the
geographic clubs um so for instance the
uh the Asia Club the Latin American Club
the North American Club the Australian
New Zealand Club the India club and so
on and these are opportunities for for
students from these backgrounds or for
those who are looking to to break into
these markets uh to to get together and
discuss issues then there's also the uh
the professional clubs so as you can see
on the screen here there's examples of
the the tech club the women in Business
Club the Consulting Club the
entrepreneurship Club the energy club
and again uh these are for people who
are either already in these industries
or who are looking to break into these
industries to uh to to join the
club uh the football club and so on and
the Social Clubs as well which which
give uh students slightly less formal
opportunity to to network across the
programs we have guest speakers as you
can see on the screen there there's
there's Bill Clinton who came a few
years ago uh in other year uh in other
recent years we've also had um Tony
Blair Gordon Brown anit rodic from The
Body Shop um then also Sir Richard
Branson and Sebastian Lord Co came along
during the Olympic year 2012 um as he
was running the uh the London Olympics
to talk about what business can learn
from Sports and vice versa and I goes
back to what I was saying before about
how being based in London we really are
able to bring some of this uh this top
talent to uh to school uh to to give
students different perspectives outside
of of what the faculty are able to to
give there're also the international
tracks and these are again student Le
opportunities for uh for people to to go
overseas to discuss uh matters to meet
companies um and also to take in some of
the culture and the tracks really do go
all over the world uh and the events
that we have uh there's the the Global
Leadership Summit which is our Flagship
event which is really a chance for for
leaders from all over the world to come
together and and keep their perspectives
on on where business is going um but
also other uh events as
well so just to give a a quick run
through of our programs uh so going
roughly in terms roughly in order of uh
of experience levels uh the M Management
program is a pre-experience program for
those with zero one or two years of
experience it's designed very much for
for people who are looking to uh to
perhaps move into a a management
position a little bit quicker than they
might be able to if they uh if they went
through the traditional employment path
and the program is very much designed to
ensure that through the the three terms
of the the first year uh that those
areas of General management that really
do give you a leg up in business are
covered as you can see some of the uh
the courses are are on the screen there
there's also very much about the the
global aspect with the the field trips
uh and also immersion and a chance to to
see how how business is done in the
corporate world uh through the business
motion week There's also personal
development program this runs through a
lot of our programs certainly on the
mity management it looks at where people
are are positioned and how their
personality suits opportunities in the
workplace going forward as well as some
career skills too looking at uh CV
building U interview skills and the kind
of things that get you a chance to to to
be employed in the uh the management
position that you're looking
for there's the option of then doing uh
the global Ming management
uh which is a two-year program and it's
partnered as I said before with fan
University in
Shanghai the global aspect of this comes
in the second year so the first year of
the MIM is is is is as stands uh then
over the summer break uh the students
given the opportunity to do an
internship uh it then moves into the uh
the global focus and very much a Chinese
Global Focus uh where there are um some
some further core courses in
crosscultural management uh Global
business management and business law
uh but then the opportunity to do three
electors before then going into to
English and Chinese policy uh there is
uh the study trip to uh to Thailand and
Singapore which again gives very much a
global um aspect of of how business is
done um but then also the the projects
in the thesis that's delivered for a
defense of the thesis at the end of the
uh the
program the massing financial analysis
is a a new program which we're launching
shortly uh it's a one-year program again
launch uh launched and directed towards
people with zero or one year of
experience so it's very much for for
people who are starting their careers
and who are looking to to move into the
the finance sector you can see that
there are a range of uh of core courses
there's 11 that are done over over three
terms uh and then also three electives
which then boost your learning as you
you go through the uh program it really
is about looking to uh to to master uh
Finance Financial software uh boosting
your profession skills and also really
getting uh some support from the career
center in terms of your opportunities to
to be employed in the financial services
sector after you finish the
program some of the requirements here uh
the we're looking for a fairly strong
undergraduate so uh the equivalent of of
what we have in the UK of a 21 at a
strong University but also candidates
must have a quantitive background uh and
a high GMAT of over 650 um or strong GRE
or CFA level one as well but one of the
the key things down the bottom there is
we're looking for well-rounded and
driven candidates it's not just about
people with the the the hard skills we
look for soft skills across all of our
programs and like to in the
school so the fulltime MBA is a flagship
program uh a little bit over 400
students come through uh fulltime MBA
every year and the key thing about uh
the full MBA is that we offer
flexibility uh so whilst it's
traditionally a two-year program here at
London Business School we do offer the
opportunity for students to graduate in
15 18 or 21 months now obviously with
that there are trade-offs if you choose
to take the shorter version either 15 or
18 months then you're going to be
limited in terms of what you're able to
do um for the uh uh the 15-month program
you are not able to do a second
internship um and also you're very much
limited on the the elected choices you
have for the 18 month version the the
elected choices also must be stacked
into the beginning of your program some
of the key things that you do in the
program is obviously there's the 16 core
courses which uh which cover uh the the
general management aspects that people
are looking for in uh in Leaders of
Tomorrow but there's also some of these
these London Centric elements so London
talks and the London business experience
which is an opportunity for you to to
see how business is in London there's
lots of skills development uh then over
summer there's the opportunity to either
do an internship um at uh one of our
organizations that we have relationships
with and I'll I'll come to those in
coming slides time all the
entrepreneurship SU school as well for
those who have an entrepreneurial
ambition or entrepreneurial background
then in the second year it's about the
electives and this is where you really
do specialize uh your your program and
uh you might want to to cover a certain
subject area that might be a strength to
you maybe you want to cover an area
that's a weakness or uh or possibly also
go General cover a range of different
electives over the the 10 to 12 that
you're allowed to there's also the the
global business experience and this is
an opportunity to to go overseas and uh
visit uh companies in uh in one or
several locations
but it's also very much about finding
your voice looking to develop yourself
into a leader of
Tomorrow the peer group as I said the
2016 class um has 411 students on it
there are 65 different
National
e
e
e
e e
in New York the way this is delivered is
in uh block week every uh every month so
one month students will be here in
London uh doing block week following
month they'll be in Columbia business
school in New York doing another block
week then back to London and then back
to New York they go through their core
courses the Ember Global Asia program is
similar except that uh it's a
partnership between the three schools
Hong Kong University London Business
School and columia business school in
New York the Ember Global Asia program
is predominantly delivered out of Hong
Kong around about half of the core
course is is delivered there with the
other half being split between London
Business School and Columbia business
school the Ember London is uh based here
in London uh and has a weekend format
it's the the odd one out in that it's
the the only when it doesn't have a long
week format the weekend format means
that students will come into the
classroom on a Friday and a Saturday and
go back to their uh their jobs for the
following two weeks and then back to the
classroom again for Friday and Saturday
so what it means is there's only two
days out of the office per month um and
uh it gives a chance to to apply the the
learning twice per month as you go
through then the EM duai is obviously
based out of our Dubai Center uh and uh
has uh again the block week format that
I described before West students will
come together uh once a month for a
block week in Dubai it means it's fairly
commuter friendly and a lot of students
will be commuting from all over the golf
region and South Asia to to go to uh the
the executive NDA to buy the uh the
London class also is is fairly commuter
friendly um and around about 40% of the
class commutes in from around Europe and
potentially the east coast of the US to
the program uh the Ember Global programs
are very very computer friendly uh and
uh typically uh 50 60 different
uh cities represented in the classroom
as they go through so it really isn't
just about people based in the cities
that the program is delivered
in the Executive MBA peer group is
around about 380 students so combined
when you uh bring them all together it's
not far off the fulltime VI uh there are
69 nationalities this is had about 65
different cities represented so this
means where people are based and living
whilst on the program it's not where
they're from originally so it's great
that they're able to bring this
different perspective in in in working
in different uh different cultures to to
the classroom as
well so some of the the key facts about
the EMP programs as I said it's block
week or weekend um but then there's the
international assignments as well and
the international assignments differ
slightly from the global business
experiences mentioned before in the uh
the forom MBA program in that there are
opportunities for students to give a
real life Consulting project uh overseas
in one of five different locations this
means they're able to bed down their
learning um with with with real
consultancy in a different geography
that they're perhaps not used to and
probably a different industry as well
there's also a different in terms of
what career services is able to to offer
uh it's much more about coaching rather
than finding roles for people at
executive level the uh the focus is on
developing the students as individuals
themselves and making them into global
leaders of
Tomorrow the uh learn apply aspect is uh
is is very useful to the other students
and it means that because they're
working at the same time studying
they're able to immediately apply the
the concepts that they're learning and
they don't have to try to remember when
they finished their their program what
they were learning in the early
stages it also gives you an opportunity
to study in global business hubs and uh
the the where we're located in in London
Dubai New York and Hong Kong is uh is
very much by Design and they really are
the uh the Global Financial industrial
hubs that we wanted to be in to give
people the opportunity to to learn
amongst people from
from very diverse
backgrounds then there's the SLO Masters
in leadership and strategy which is a
full-time program lasts one year um for
senior managers and as I said earlier
around 16 years of experience is the
average in the classroom obviously goes
all the way up to 25 30 35 years of
experience there's three key themes and
they are strategy leadership and change
and globalization and the program
differs from our other um programs in
the uh the general management portfolio
in that it's an MSC and it looks very
much at strategy and and how you can
deliver on uh on what you're learning
rather than the general management
leadership
elements similarly to the uh the other
programs there's different learning
methods we look at uh the study group
element and uh uh some of the the
networking and speaker events but
there's also an international assignment
and opportunity to take the the AUD of
summer school for those who are looking
to go down entrepreneurial
path obviously lond bus school has a
very strong career center and the career
center has two main functions uh and
they generally split down the uh the
differences in programs whether it's
early to mid career or whether it's the
executive
programs with the early to mid career
programs it really is about developing
uh students at the the early stages of
their careers and looking for
internships potentially future jobs for
them afterwards this is done through a
lot of of workshops uh looking through
uh through skills development and uh
through uh refining career goals
uh there's also the the element of
building connections with employers um
to uh to make sure that students are
able to get strong internships and uh
and roles in the future in a range of
different Industries but obviously we
have a lot of strengths in Consulting
Finance industry and then
entrepreneurship as well at the
Executive MBA level and and slone MSE
it's much more about coaching you to
develop you as a leader so it's not
necessarily about finding people jobs
and there are no internships on the the
executive NBA or the SL MC but rather
it's about developing those soft skills
and making sure people understand where
their career should be heading and how
they can position themselves to uh to
develop and to to accelerate their
careers going
forward a little bit more about the uh
the career center uh as I said there's
the uh the career coaching element and
this is available to to all students and
alumni uh going through our program uh
there's the executives in Residence and
the these are people with with strengths
in certain industries and areas able to
insights and different ideas into how
things can be delivered in terms of your
career going forward a lot of the
program is developed around career
strategy and looking to where your
career should be going and often these
are very fundamentally difficult
conversations with students talking
about where their strengths might lie
and why the path they've been looking at
is not necessarily compatible with them
trying to to to work out an area in
which strengths really do uh have a
resonance and relevance to to where the
career is going the alumni job boards
and uh it's it's it's a fact of of life
that a lot of jobs are not advertised in
the general public U but rather
advertised from within networks and
given that London Business School is
such a strong Network these are really
strong opportunities to to have a look
at where jobs are going not just a
student on uh on progam on a program
here but also as an aluminous of the
school as well and then there's the
entrepreneurial element as well we
recognize that not everyone uh going
through our programs is looking to to uh
to stay or in the corporate world but uh
but rather might be either already an
entrepreneur or looking to move in an
entrepreneurial Direction and as a
result of this we uh we have a strong
entrepreneurial offering both through
our subjects in terms of the the
entrepreneurship summer school and and
other entrepreneurial electives but also
through what we're able to offer through
the career center as well we offer this
through our entrepreneurship mentors and
also the business incubator that we have
based here in
London this is an opportunity for
students who are accepted into the
incubator to to use some infrastructure
in terms of uh office space uh and
internet access uh but also to uh to to
bounce ideas off other people who are
basic V us they go through their
programs and then shortly
afterwards some of the brands of uh the
companies that we have on campus
recruitment with as you can see they
come from a range of of different uh
different Industries whether it's
Financial Services as you can see with
the with Deutsche Bank
HSBC uh and so on um Lloyds and City
Bank as well uh whether it's in uh in
Consulting with with McKenzie with booze
Bane uh whether it's in Tech it's
Amazon
Samsung and then also moving on into
some of the other Industries as well
whether it's fmcg or energy and
Engineering uh or uh or it telecoms as
well we have a range of of different
employers who who hire straight off the
uh the campus um and also through our
recruitment events as well uh but also
it's not just about these big Brands we
also have relationships with smaller
Boutique organizations too which which
look to to hire some of our
students so a little bit about
admissions London Business School is not
just looking for people who tickboxes in
terms of their uh their academic
background or their experience there
there's a whole range of things that we
look for uh for for students coming on
on on board to to our programs
fundamentally the the the two top ones
there are really the the main ones that
that we look for and that is team skills
of contribution and wanting to be a
contributor so this comes around the
experience that people are able to bring
into the classroom in terms of our post
experience programs uh but also the uh
the experience people bring academically
for those on our our pre-experience
programs the best way of looking at it
is trying to see whether what you're
able to offer in the classroom is
something that other people want to
learn from that's a very important
element element for us as well
selfawareness comes into it it's not
just about people who think that they
have achieved a lot in their their
careers you need to be able to learn
from others and also to learn from
others from a different different
cultural background too that's where the
the international exposure is is is
certainly quite useful if you have lived
or or worked in different countries but
uh even if you haven't got International
exposure certainly an international
Outlook is is critical for students to
to be admitted commitment and motivation
is is very important we look for people
who are uh willing and able to to
complete our program programs this is
very important certainly on our
part-time programs so our Executive MBA
portfolio and our part-time maset
Finance program obviously on these
programs there is a a clash between uh
wanting to uh to complete the the
program academically but also your
employers and it's important that uh the
the programs don't take a a backward
seat in situations where there is that
Clash GMAT and academic ability come
into it for for all of our programs uh a
GMAT is is generally mandatory uh
certainly on a fulltime program it is
mandatory we offer some waivers on our
Executive MBA um and uh parttime Master
Finance program but it's really only for
people with either strong seniority or
very good results in a quantitative
qualification like CFA level three or
something like that uh the GMAT varies
from program to program but generally
speaking we want above 600 as a GMAT
score which is balanced across both the
uh uh the quants and the verbal sections
uh but uh on the fulltime NBA program
the the average is a little bit about
700 on the executive NBA program it's
usually a little bit above 650 so
certainly aiming for for those scores
around about 700 is is a good start uh
an academic ability your how you
performed your your undergrad will also
come into it on the the later career
programs such as the the Executive MBA
and the SL MC it's is not necessarily as
important as your experience in the
workplace um and we we may accept some
reasons if you have't as to why you
haven't performed as well as you'd
expect in your your undergraduation
uh but but is certainly part of the the
process so as I said before these are
the requirements so the all the uh the
applications are completed online uh and
this requires obviously the uh the
general questions that that we'll ask
about your background but also essays
and uh these these essays are an
important way for us to be able to find
out a little bit more about you uh for
you to to be able to deliver on what
we're looking for so that's roughly
speaking um your your experience your
career objectives and how they align to
the program you're looking to to join um
but also a little bit about team skills
and selfawareness as well we look for
the uh the strong GM or GRE score uh we
also expect references two references uh
are required for for your application uh
and they should be from people who know
a little bit about you some people are
are sometimes tempted to to put someone
who's quite senior in their organization
forward as as a referee uh and that's
that's great if they know a bit about
you and they work closely with you but
if they're given a limited amount of
information on the reference that we're
receiving back that doesn't do us much
good that that has a very negative
impact on your
application so some of the the next
steps that you might be uh looking to uh
to complete so it's it's a great first
step to uh to listen in on this this uh
this online info session uh hopefully
I've been able to give you a brief
background on the uh the school itself
and some of the programs that you're
you're looking to apply to uh but this
is certainly not the end of it um one of
the the next steps is to send your CV
into to one of our recruitment teams
this is a great opportunity for you to
find out if your experience is at the
right level and what uh what we're
looking for in terms of the students we
want in our programs we have dedicated
recruitment teams for each of the
different programs and I'll I'll put the
uh the email addresses for each of those
teams up in a second and as I said this
is a good opportunity to see if you're
on the right path but also for us to to
get to know you a little bit before you
you subet your application we certainly
do like to to know a bit about
candidates so that application is not
just a a blind one that we have sitting
on our desks when it comes around to
submission once you've sent in your CV
we uh we might be able to pay you up
with a a current student or an alumnus
we generally uh will will'll pair you up
with someone with similar background to
to what you have um so that you can ask
them questions and find out about uh
their experience of the program maybe
what the return on investment was for
them uh or what they're able to do after
they uh they graduated uh if it's a
current student they'll maybe talk a
little bit about what some of their
perspectives have been uh whilst whilst
going through the
program we could also potentially put
you in on a class visit uh and this is a
great opportunity for you to see not
just the the strength of the faculty and
how they teach but also fundamentally
how the classroom is able to uh to
interact with each other and uh you know
learning a little bit more about that
learning from each other aspect that I
spoke about before uh we uh we feel that
our students are selected quite
rigorously at the applic the the
admission phase just to make sure that
you are able to learn from each other as
as you go through the program then
obviously it's about preparing for the
GMAT uh it's it's important to to ensure
that you are ready for the the test uh
it's not particularly easy it's it's
pegged at around about the 17 or 18 year
old maths and verbal level but uh if you
haven't been doing uh that that level of
of maths or or or English language
skills for a while then uh it might need
some brushing up and then the the last
piece of advice on the uh the applic is
to apply early um it it goes without
saying that the earlier you apply the
the emptier the classes are so it stands
you in better stead for being able to be
admitted onto our
programs so at that point I'll I'll say
thank you uh as I said uh we really do
uh look to have CVS submitted in advance
of the uh of the the application uh so
going through this list here if you have
a look at the uh the program or programs
that you're interested in uh and take a
note of the uh the email address
uh you'll then be able to uh submit your
your CV to to the team we aim to get
back to you uh fairly quickly um and uh
we'll then take the dialogue further and
uh not just uh give you a CV review but
then also a little bit of uh advice on
your your application as you go through
it so uh at that point I'll finish with
uh with the points I wanted to make uh
and if anyone has any uh questions
please feel free to type them in now for
the next uh 15 or 20 minutes I'll I'll
answer your
queries so there's a question here about
Bachelor degrees uh whether we offer any
bachelor degrees uh unfortunately we
don't um we we only offer postgraduate
education um so the uh the the earliest
career stages are the Ming management
the global mastering management and the
M financial analysis but we do not offer
any uh any undergraduate Bachelor
degrees
question here about um uh receiving top
up students so unfortunately no the the
credits that you've received at other
institutions are not eligible for the
programs we have at London Vis buiness
School uh to complete one of our
programs here um you will have to begin
at the beginning um to to take all the
the GRS you go
through there a question here about the
importance of internships and work
experience if applying for the master
management the the key thing is that we
we look to take a holistic approach to
um to the the admissions process on all
of our programs so uh what we do is we
look at everything you've you've you've
put in your application um whether it's
about your your academic background uh
your GMAT scores obviously um some of
the softer skills that come through in
your uh your essays some of the
extracurricular activities you've done
uh then also your experience so given
that the the mastering management is for
people zero one or two years of
experience
obviously the uh if you if you've got
some experience in terms of internships
or full-time work then uh that's
something that that would' be Keen to to
find out about if if it's if it adds a
strong um balance to your your
application uh there are some people on
the program who have no working
experience so again uh the uh the work
experience becomes irrelevant to them
but it's very much a holistic approach
so we look at you as a candidate across
the
board there's a question here about a
preference for GMAT over for GRE for
Ming financial analysis um for the for
the MFA itself there is no preference
and for those programs where we we
accept both GMAT and gr again we have no
preference one over the other provid you
you have a strong score in either that's
perfectly acceptable for us the
exception is the The Forum MBA um we
don't accept GRE for Forum MBA you must
submit a GMAT score for that
program so a question here for the the
required gmet score for the mastering
management we look for a minimum of 600
with a a balance across both Quant and
verbal so generally that's the 50th
percentile of both the Quant and verbal
side of things um but the higher the
score the better obviously so um because
it's a holistic approach if you have
around about that 600 score you're going
to have to balance your your application
with other strong elements whether it's
a you good work experience that you've
had other extra extracurricular
activities and so on or a very strong
undergrad
um likewise if you have a um
700 750 gmap that's probably going to to
help your your cause a little bit um so
if you don't have some of those elements
in terms of of experience or or strong
undergrad at a strong University that
that might offset it but uh it's
important to stress that it's very much
a holistic approach that we
have so the question here here is how
flexible the MBA program is with work
experience um and whether three years um
uh to start the program would be uh be
eligible simple answer is yes um the
minimum we look for on the fulltime MBA
is two years of experience the minimum
we look for our executive programs is 5
years of experience but again in terms
of admissions eligibility is one thing
but but whether people get onto the
programs other so with those three years
you need to show that you've done quite
a lot in that and that you're on the the
right path likewise on the the fulltime
the Executive MBA there aren't a lot of
people in the program in five or six or
seven years uh most of the people sit
the 10 plus years of experience so you'd
need to be showing that you've achieved
a lot in the uh the relatively few years
of experience that you've had but uh
certainly 3 years of experience um in is
five would be eligible for the
program there's a question here about
MBA application deadlines I'm afraid
because I work on the the Executive MBA
I don't have a lot of information about
the the deadlines themselves but uh if
you uh got in touch with the um the
email address up there for the the MBA
MBA London edu you'll be able to find
out a little bit more about how the the
deadlines work on the uh on the for
MBA so there's a question here about the
gmet again um this this individual has
taken the GMAT three times and got
different scores each time which one do
we consider we always consider the uh
the top score that you you have we don't
average them and we don't look at the
lowest um and and likewise the fact that
you've taken it multiple times won't
impact your uh your application it'll
always be the top score the reason we do
this is because the the GMAT um shows
your potential um based on on how uh the
program is structured it's impossible to
get above what your your potential is um
but it is however possibly to get below
for instance you might be unwell that
day or you might be unduly stressed or
you might just have had a bad day
therefore You' got to score below what
your capability is and if you take it
again you might then get the score that
uh that you're capable of but you're uh
because it's a it's an Adaptive test
where the the questions become easier or
harder based on your performance as you
go through it's not possible to get a
score above your potential so uh so
whatever your higher score is is is
probably closer to what your ability is
than the the lower
scores question here about handing in
all the application uh materials
including Gmail at the same time it
depends on which program you're you're
looking at um the the the safest answer
is yes you should on the for MBA you do
require to submit all applications at
the same time um on the the rolling
application deadline program so for
instance the Executive MBA uh you are
able to um to submit some of the
elements later uh after you've submitted
your application however you should be
aware that your application will not be
reviewed until you've received all
elements so uh uh if you are still
visiting your gmap you'll have your
application in will have met the the
deadline but we won't be able to review
it and therefore invite you to interview
until we've uh received the um uh the
the the gmet or whatever the missing
element
is there's a question here about the
Executive MBA so besides having at least
five years of work experience and having
good gmet score are there any other
prerequisites for the uh the Executive
MBA uh the specific question is whether
you need an undergrad degree um you
don't need an undergrad degree on the
Executive MBA but you need to show that
you've got strong um strong career that
would would be a insute for that the the
executive NBA is much more about your
work experience rather than your your
academic background that said it's still
important for us to to look into what
your your academic background is um but
we uh we we put a much more of the focus
on on the experience and again based on
the the holistic experience approach
that I spoke about before if someone has
for instance five years of work
experience they're probably going to
need a an undergrad um you know that
would obviously be fairly weak in terms
of the experience levels so we'd look to
see their contribution class being an
academic contribution or or something
else possibly um the fact that they've
they've got some some interesting
extracurricular background um they uh
they might be an ex-professional sports
player or they might have been in
politics or or something like that uh
but
uh classroom and would people want to
learn from you
there's a question here about uh whether
if I apply November is there is that a
late time to apply considering the
competitiveness of the programs again it
depends on which program you're you're
talking about if it's the uh uh the
fulltime MBA um there very much the
stage deadline approach if it's the the
Executive MBA or the M Finance the mass
management so it's a rolling application
deadline um the the general answer to
this is the earlier you apply the better
um if you uh if you feel that you have a
very strong application you might still
be considered in November certainly
that's if you fall within the deadlines
then there's no reason why you wouldn't
be able to make it on the program
however obviously it becomes more and
more difficult to get on the program as
the deadlines pass as we complete the uh
the intake so it's simple truth is the
earlier the better to uh to to get onto
the
program question here about uh an idea
of what the block week hours look like
for for an Executive MBA whether it's
the block week or the the weekend format
on the Ember the hours are generally
around about 8:30 in the morning through
to about 6:15 or 6:30 in the evening so
so they're solid 10hour days um where uh
generally three lectures are covered
each day three three hour lectures with
some breakout time as well um so it's
it's by no means a um a straightforward
day the reason we have such intensive
days is because the the executive NBA
programs still deliver a MBA degree at
the end of it and in order to to be
accredited for delivering an NBA degree
you have to cover the same amount of
work that's done by the full-time NBA
students so obviously they're very very
intensive days where uh where the the
cover the work is covered in in a fairly
fast
pace question here about interviews for
the fortime NBA program uh all of our
programs require the candidates to be
interviewed um we don't uh admit people
without uh without the interview so the
the admissions process roughly goes the
paper application process um those
people who are then shortlisted will be
then invited to an interview and then
the decision on on uh whether they join
the program is decided soon after that
um the the next questions linked to that
is uh are they done remotely or on
campus for the fulltime MBA um you have
you can select three cities um your
first second and third preference of of
where you'd like to be deed um so that
might be led in which case it could be
on campus but it could also be where
you're based currently so there's no
need to to travel um to to be
interviewed for the the program um
that's for the the rules for the
fulltime NBA uh for the Executive MBA
you're generally required to be
interviewed on campus whether it's uh
here in London for the uh the Ember
London or in Dubai if you're looking to
to join the Dubai class um or also when
Columbia business school University if
you're looking at the Ember Global Asia
or Ember Global amerit Europe program
but again just to uh to to clarify all
students who who joined the program have
been in
intervie another question on the
interview um uh what will the interview
test essentially the the interviews no
matter what program you're looking at um
there's two sides to it uh the first is
that it's a factchecking exercise um
obviously we we will go over the the
facts that you've got in your your
application um you know so that might be
your experience um you know your uh uh
your undergrad performance and things
like that so a lot of questions around
what is in your application but we're
also looking to to test the uh the fit
with the school um and because this
we're not very much not a theoretical
school we look for practitioners and
people who are global leaders of
tomorrow it's also about uh about your
your personal impact and how you'll be
able to uh to fit in with the uh the
program that you you've selected um
they're certainly not uh stress test
interviews um we uh we we find that it's
much better to to get information from
people by asking questions directly
compeny based questions rather than
going into questions that that might be
a little bit difficult for for students
to to
answer there's a question here is there
a language requirement for MIM uh my
understanding is there isn't uh there is
certainly a language requirement for for
the Executive MBA um for all of our
programs obviously you must speak
English because the programs are
delivered in English uh the additional
language requirement for the fulltime
MBA you must either already speak a
second language or you must learn a
second language throughout the program
uh my belief is that um on the Ming
Management program you don't need to do
that uh although it might be worth
checking um the Ming management
recruitment team at me l.edu just to
make sure
that there's a question here uh about um
not having taken maths courses at
University and whether the Quant scoring
Gmail is proof for the Quant skills uh
yes it is so um again it's a holistic
approach that we have um we'd need to to
see a solid Quant score to uh to to make
sure that you have the the quants uh
ability but generally speaking above the
50 percentile in in quants uh will be a
a pretty good indication that you're
able to to handle the more Quant
developments of the
program uh question here about English
tests um so if you've completed an
undergrad degree in the UK will you
still have to take an English test uh
the answer to that is no um if you have
worked or studied uh in an English
speaking environment for two or more
years then uh you will not need to uh to
take either the TOEFL or the the IELTS
uh if you haven't uh worked or studied
in uh an English speaking environment
for two or more years and English is not
your first language then you will need
to submit a A tofl or ANS test just to
to make sure
that your English language schools are
up to scrp
Ty that might be the last of the
questions so I'll give about 10 or 15
seconds if anyone has any more questions
okay looks like there are no further
questions so I'd like to thank you all
for uh for joining in on today's session
uh if anyone does have any additional
questions uh as you can see I've still
left the uh the original email sheet up
on the the screen so make sure you you
take down uh whichever email address you
are for the the program that you're
interested in applying for and uh feel
free to uh to get in touch
